The South Asian Learning Sciences Research Collective (SALSRC) is an affinity group for South Asian-identifying scholars to engage in conversation and action around the role of learning sciences research with, by, and for South Asian people. SALSRC explicitly foregrounds equity-oriented and decolonial perspectives to educational research. Its three core goals are to: (1) Support South Asian scholars in the learning sciences and related fields; (2) Facilitate collaboration around learning sciences research in South Asian contexts, and; (3) Advance heterogeneous South Asian Ways of knowing and learning.
We use the term “South Asia” as used by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation to refer to current-day Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Given the complex histories of this region and the movement of people across time, we welcome participants who identify with the term “South Asian” either within or outside of these enumerated national boundaries.
Despite the name, we certainly welcome participation by folks regardless of how they position themselves relative to the learning sciences, although we are an education research-focused group.
If you’d like to get involved, please reach out to connect! We have a google group/email list, Facebook group, and Slack workspace, and participation is welcome on any or all of them.
